For the last ten years M.J. St. Jean has served a wide range of clientele from local families to NBA professionals. Ranked among the top 1% of Danville and Alamo Realtors in 2013, the down- to-earth professional has earned a reputation for her first-class care.
In addition to a decade of transactional experience, M.J. comes with an MBA from Suffolk University. Her well-rounded business insight has benefited clients everywhere from Pleasant Hill to Pleasanton and Walnut Creek to Orinda.
As the wife of an NBA coach and general manager, M.J. also learned a great deal about the real estate industry from her personal relocation background. Before settling down in Danville 17 years ago, M.J. moved seven times, five of which were with the NBA, obtaining a range of first-hand resale knowledge. However, her husband’s experience in the public eye also illuminated the importance of retaining her clients’ privacy, which her sellers consistently appreciate.
“I’m extremely discreet, so that my clients’ personal business is kept totally confidential, especially with clients that may be high profile. I’m very sensitive in keeping their personal life private, while selling their home in public form.”
Devoted to overall quality, M.J. sets the bar high with exceptional marketing via professional photography, multi-faceted advertising, and timely follow up. Her in-depth market knowledge also helps her communicate how current trends affect her clients’ bottom line, keeping her one step ahead during negotiations.
“I think that a lot of sellers choose me because of my track record. I don’t just list [houses], I sell them.”
Yet, her success stretches far beyond business logistics. M.J.’s warm personality and genuine interest in getting to know each client has turned many buyers and sellers into long-lasting friends. She remains grateful for those relationships, knowing they formed the roots of her current success.
“What really helped launched my business was all the work I had previously done in the community. I had been involved in schools, the National Charity League, and my church. So, I had a lot of great relationships with people and, because of that people gave me a chance. I also had a wonderful mentor who taught me the ropes of the business.”
When she’s not helping clients, M.J. enjoys learning French, vacationing to Cape Cod, or attending the theater. As a recently retired flight attendant, she also has a natural passion for exploring new places.
Garry, M.J.’s husband of 30 years, was previously a general manager and coach for various NBA teams, such as the Milwaukee Bucks, New Jersey Nets, Sacramento Kings, and Golden State Warriors. M.J. also has two children both of whom graduated from De La Salle and Carondelet before playing college basketball. Emily, 27, now lives in San Francisco and works for Google, and Gregory, 24, resides in Sacramento and works for the Sacramento Kings in hopes to be an NBA coach one day like his dad.
M.J. feels lucky to have landed in a beautiful area with such exceptional proximity to San Francisco, Napa, and Tahoe. Ten years later she still thoroughly enjoys the real estate hunt, knowing each transaction helps someone start a new chapter in their life.
“I really love to put a family in the right house, because it’s not about selling a house it’s about finding them a home, and home is so important.”
