When surgery prevented Karen Richardson from continuing her career as a cardiology technician for UC Medical Center, she knew she wanted her second career to be centered on helping people. Karen began her career as a real estate 12 years ago by holding open houses and was drawn to the personal side of real estate. She enjoyed getting to know her clients, and they, in turn, appreciated how smoothly she handled the multiple complications that sometimes go with buying and selling real estate.
“I like to make the process of buying and selling homes smooth and hassle-free. I hear the frustrations people go through and deal with it by eliminating as much stress as I can and acting as a buffer for my clients.”
Karen’s ability to anticipate the needs of her client is one of the attributes that makes her one of the top producing real estate agents in the Lamorinda and the greater East Bay. She has an innate gift of being in-tune with what her clients need before they know it, and she helps her buyers figure out why certain homes don’t always meet those needs. In return for her willingness to make the real estate process as unencumbered as possible for all sides, Karen has earned herself a loyal list of clients as well as top awards year after year. For the last eight years, Karen has been awarded the Top 1% of Real Estate Agents in Lamorinda, Top 100 Agents in California, and the President’s Circle Award. Last year, Karen was honored to be voted the #1 Best Realtor in Lamorinda by the Lamorinda Mom’s Group. Karen is very appreciative of her clients and the relationships she has built with them over the years. As a true testament to being a well respected agent, one of the clients that Karen worked with on multiple transactions approached Karen about going into business with her. The mutual respect Karen had for her client, Erin, blossomed into a working relationship that now includes a full-service team. “The timing with Erin was perfect. At the time, I had more business than I could handle for the service I wanted to provide.”
The Karen Richardson Group includes fellow agents, Ben Miller and Erin Martin, as well as her stager, Donna Kendall, and her assistant/transaction coordinator, Meara Dunsmore. The team understands that clients are at the heart of the Karen Richardson Group and their best interests are paramount. “We care about our clients. It’s not just business, it’s personal.” The Karen Richardson Group built their reputation as a full-service team, going above and beyond to make the experience as stress free as possible. Karen’s team is present at all inspections and stages all their homes as part of their commitment to excellent service. Karen spends a lot of her advertising budget marketing properties prior to going on the market. By taking advantage of the excitement and anticipation a new property draws, she creates an environment likely to bring multiple, high offers. When Karen’s clients need help decluttering, organizing, painting, landscaping, cleaning, packing, moving, caring for pets or negotiating rent backs, Karen and her team are actively involved in the process. Tailoring their services toward each clients’ needs is what makes Karen and her team different from other real estate agents.
“I feel we have worked had to become a fully integrated team. We all pitch-in and help each other and that’s what brings the extra value for our clients.”
In the little time Karen has away from her business, she enjoys spending time with her husband. Friday nights are designated date nights where the two find time to enjoy a good meal, a cocktail, and play games. Karen and her husband, David, love to entertain, travel, and spend quality time with their two children, Nick and Taylor. You can contact Karen Richardson Group:
