Screen Shot 2014-03-21 at 5.41.31 PMI had the opportunity to speak at the  Bay East Global Connect, a dynamic conference that covered topics such as leveraging global network for more business, how to capture international buyers, the ABC’s of the EB5 Visa, and more. The speakers added so much value to the seminar by offering practical, real-life advice about important issues surrounding global real estate. It was truly an honor to share the stage with the presenters. It was also an honor to impart some of what I’ve learned over the years . My presentation “Doing Business Around the Globe”  outlined a few key fundamentals of international real estate:

Jim Walberg1- IT IS STILL ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS:

The basic rules of real estate never change. Whether you are interacting face-to-face, engaging someone online, or attempting to communicate over seas, relationships are still the foundation of any successful real estate practice. But since we all have a limited amount of time, we want to be make sure we leave room to invest in those valuable connections.

2- WHERE DO I START IF I WANT TO EXPAND INTO THE WORLD OF GLOBAL REAL ESTATE?

It’s pretty simple– just hang out where your fellow global real estate colleagues are!

AREAA— Asian Real Estate Association of America

USF REX— Foreign Exchange Services

And remember it is important to engage! There is no benefit in just having global real estate logos on your webpages or marketing material! You should take the next step and meet your global real estate partners in order to begin.

WHERE DO I MEET GLOBAL REAL ESTATE PARTNERS?

Begin by networking!

•Attend their annual conferences
•Volunteer for leadership opportunities
•Meet them during your out-of-area travels
•You will build deep and lasting connections

• A position in the minds eye of your audience as the professional to contact for any global real estate needs.
• A much keener awareness of global issues.

And finally…

• ADDITIONAL REVENUE TO YOUR PRACTICE!
