It’s the middle of fall and we are still experiencing sunlight, blue skies and pleasant days– but winter is fast approaching! Here are a few tips to ensure your home is are well-prepared and ready for the cold and rainy weather up ahead.
HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR WINTER:
*Trim their trees around the house to allow more sunlight into the house
*Clean the gutters before the rains start in the winter months
*Check for drafty situations to identify air leaks around the house and plug the same
*Open the drapes during the day time to use solar energy to warm up the house
*Reset their thermostats in the house from air conditioning to heating and set temperatures that family members are comfortable with. These temperatures should vary by zone, i.e. Bedrooms versus formal areas
*Have the heating system checked out and serviced before the winter starts
*Have exposed water pipes outside the house insulated to prevent them from freezing
*Have roof tiles checked and replaced for cracks
