Realtor Pat Burgess adheres to a standard of excellence. Because of her hard work, she is now ranked in the top 2% of Realtors nationwide. Yet her beginnings where humble and her success was self-driven. Born in Buffalo, NY, the youngest of four children, Pat grew up in NJ, within the NY metropolitan area. Sadly, as a young teenager, her father passed away. As the youngest, her mom was very clear with here. She had obligations to put her sons through college. Financially her mom was just not able to fulfill everyone’s wishes. That motivated Pat Burgess! She had a job at 14 and she has never looked back. She put herself through Boston College, working multiple jobs and bartering for food at “Haymarket” with a $10 food budget per week. According to Pat Burgess “Necessity is the mother of invention!”
From College her career began in advertising on the McDonald’s account. However, as the technology boom accelerated, she realized that was the “pool she wanted to swim in”, so she moved to high end business systems sales for AT&T, then Rolm Corporation, and then national marketing for IBM. She was a top performer in every position she ever had. In the early ‘90’s she relocated to Danville opening a business systems consulting firm with a focus on the utility industry: EXL Consulting, Inc. Within one year she had grown to over 80 consultants and a multi-million dollar company! But her first love was always real estate, so after many extraordinary years with EXL, she sold the business. Since then she has pursued her passion for selling houses. With the blend of her corporate marketing background along with her love for real estate, she has been blessed with a successful combination, all of which has been very advantageous for her clients! Even through the difficult years in the real estate industry, she has been awarded President’s Club status every year for her top performance and still remains within the top 2% of all Realtors nationwide.
She has lived in Danville for nearly 20 years, and raised 5 children doing everything from being a room mother, Mustang Soccer Coach, Cub Scout Den Leader, to now sitting on the Board for EPIC: Empowering Parents in the Community. She is actively involved in the Danville-Sycamore Rotary Club, was honored with “Rookie Rotarian of the Year” in 2009, and “Rotarian of the Year” in 2010 for her Community Service work. Currently she is the Chairperson for Community Service for her Rotary Club. She was the Assistant Chairperson for “Interact”, which is the High School version of Rotary. Recently she completed the “Leadership San Ramon Valley” program so that she will be able to better serve her community. In addition, she has founded a support group called “Divorce Angels” for those needing help finding their way through the various challenges of this difficult process. And in her free time, her and her husband love to golf, ski, and do day trips to the local vineyards!
Her key to success has always been a blend of lots of hard work, passion for what she does, and most importantly, always putting her clients first! She loves marketing, she loves construction and staging, and she loves negotiating. In the real estate industry, that is an unbeatable combination!
