Due to our dry winter, California officials are requesting that residents find ways to conserve water. There are many low technical solutions we can employ that will make this possible. Low flow faucets and toilets are great ways to cut back and EBMUD is giving rebates for those willing to replace old washing machines and toilets for high-efficiency models. Utilizing drought tolerant plants in landscaping and switching to drip systems for irrigation will also help conserve water outside. Consider installing Greywater Systems which reuse laundry and bath water to maintain the outside lawn and landscaping. For additional information, or to learn more about ways to conserve water, visit EBMUD’S website at: http://www.ebmud.com/water-and-wastewater/watersmart-center.

Great post Pat! –
Another way to conserve water not mentioned above or on the referenced website at EBMUD is the Water Select® valve. Everyone can use it including the elderly and children, and it saves a lot of water. You can see a child using it at http://www.waterselect.com/how-it-works.html and I believe people in California and every where else will be quite interested in this new water conservation technology.
