“Walnut Creek is where I’ve called home for 25 years, it is the perfect place to raise families, live, work, shop, and entertain, the perfect blend of city living yet so close to Mount Diablo and Open Space that you also have a country feel, you can truly have it all.” –Rita Dhillon
Rita Dhillon has been a pioneer in Bay Area real estate for more than 23 years. During that time, Rita and her team have constantly introduced new services to the real estate marketplace and have been at the forefront of rising home values. The Rita Dhillon Team consists of Rita, her son Tim, and associate Khush Kermanizadeh.
Rita began working in real estate in 1991 and was one of the first to introduce the concept of home staging in both Walnut Creek and Contra Costa. She does whatever is needed to ensure her clients’ properties are sold at “top dollar.” As Rita explains it, “we take a house and bring it to its best possible light so that our clients ultimately benefit.” A recent customer was impressed by Rita‘s willingness to “go the extra mile for anyone…” This approach to business is why Rita and her team consistently bring the highest housing prices to their market.
Both Rita and Tim are competitive by nature and do not settle for mediocrity. Tim’s background as a competitive tennis player certainly contributes to his drive. He handles the marketing, while Rita does the negotiating, which is one of her greatest strengths. Both agree that, “you have to be the best at what you do.” This is why Rita was ranked #64 in the nation out of over 1 Million Realtors by REAL Trends/The Wall Street Journal for total sales volume, has been ranked the #1 Realtor in Contra Costa County, was featured in a cover story for California Real Estate magazine (official magazine of the California Association of Realtors), and has been a finalist for “Residential Agent of the Year” by the East Bay Business Times. Rita is consistently ranked as the top Realtor in the Northgate area of Walnut Creek year after year.
Rita, and her team know they must sacrifice to be top producers. Rita’s work often comes home with her, and she laughs at her original idea of doing real estate “part-time.” Excelling as a Realtor demanded her full commitment, and she has been up for the challenge.
Rita’s day usually starts around 6 a.m. with a walk then calls to inspectors, etc. Around 8:30 a.m., she calls the office to review transactions. She says, “I basically want to take care of my clients personally and as much as I can. I’m involved in staging and getting the houses ready, so I’m picking out materials and getting listings ready during the day. My clients know they can always call me.”
Rita’s success as a Realtor has positively affected the lives of her customers. One of her past clients, Khush Kermanizadeh calls her “phenomenal” and was so impressed by Rita that she decided to work with her after a long and rewarding career with British Airways. Khush was drawn to Rita’s integrity, selflessness and professionalism. Khush is an integral part of the team, and she is very caring towards the needs of clients.
The Rita Dhillon Team is proud of their professional achievements. But one of their greatest joys is giving back. They are extremely involved in the community and contribute in multiple ways. Each year they participate in a food drive and match dollar for dollar whatever money is collected. They also donate money as well as advertising on shopping carts to local schools fundraising efforts, which include Northgate High School, Foothill Middle, Walnut Acres and Valle Verde Elementary. Rita’s greatest love is volunteering. Every year, she serves for two weeks at an organization in India that has built hospitals, universities, and provides food and shelter for the less privileged in rural areas where “people die without medical care or nutrition, girls are abused, and knowledge is imparted to the few who are fortunate.”
For Rita and her team, being successful supports their biggest goal — spreading kindness. Rita stays centered through a lot of spiritual reading and meditation. She summed up her approach to business best when she said, “Make as much as you can, so you can give as much as you can… Being successful translates into many more lives we can touch.”
