I attended Bay East Global Connect 2014 and received quite an education! There was so much valuable information given, but the topics that stood out to me were EB5, CIPS and Proxio.
EB5 Program: This program facilitates and connects foreign investors to American commercial real estate investments. It has quite an intensive process and hearing the attorney talk about EB5 really changed my perspective. My knowledge of the entire thing was so limited, but everything I learned was an eye opener for me. It was actually more complex and time intensive than I had assumed, so I was very glad to be learning about it.
CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist): I have been considering the CIPS designation for awhile now. Hearing about all the success stories confirmed that my thinking is on the right track. The international networking opportunities are promising, and by earning my designation I would gain full insight into the Global World Market. It is important to be a part of this organization to communicate with international consumers living overseas.
Proxio: This seems to be a very exciting product that I am definitely going to implement! It offers global marketing and the promotion of listings in various countries! This means that home listings would not be limited to the local MLS. It would take my real estate listings and promote them on international level, making them searchable in 19 languages! What does this mean for my clients? More exposure for their properties, and essentially the broadest possible reach currently available!
Cultural Differences: Understanding cultural differences is very important when dealing with international transactions. Time differences, holidays, customs, greetings, are things that must be considered to have a successful transaction. I already have a strong understanding of the Arab and Indian culture, but am making it a point to learn about the Asian culture as well. For example, I just learned that some Asian cultures do not like the number 4 — very interesting!
I receive continual education to stay up-to-date with the latest real estate news and trends. Not only does this keep me on top of my game– this ensures that my client’s are getting the best service possible!
