Having worked together for over 10 years, Danville-based Elin Matter and Linda Williams know the Danville, Diablo, Blackhawk and San Ramon markets just as well as they know each other. Having closed 300 sales in the past 3 years, the two are known for giving honest, up-to-date insight on a street-by-street basis.
“When you do the amount of business we do, you really have to have a good pulse on the market,” says Elin. “We are the first ones in the office, last ones to leave, and work weekends, because this is what we love to do.”
Mentored by a local real estate guru, the pair formed a strong foundation and has built on their client-centric approach. With more than 20 years of collective experience, Elin and Linda joke they’re full-time agents and part-time counselors skilled in the art of listening and advisement.
“You really have to hear what each client is telling you not just with words, but with the little nuances that reveal their style, how they communicate, and what they’re looking for in a home,” says Elin.
Constantly striving for improvement, Elin and Linda have earned up to 5 unique professional designations. They’ve also received the 2012 Masters Award and were ranked the #2 team nation-wide in both 2011 and 2012 by Better Homes & Garden Realty. Over the past decade, the duo has found success with their honest approach and in-depth market knowledge. This winning combination has naturally built their pre-dominantly referral-based business.
Elin and Linda’s mutual background in construction also enables them to consult sellers on which remodels will pay out in the end.
“Both our husbands are in construction, so we’re both pretty entrenched in real estate,” says Linda. “We’re able to walk into a house and tell the seller which updates will offer a significant return on their investment.”
It doesn’t matter if they’re working on a Tri- Valley town- house or a luxury home in Blackhawk. Elin and Linda
go through a thorough checklist of what a house needs, utilizing professional photography, landscaping and con- temporary staging. Their tried and true process ensures each house shines and aligns with buyers’ desires before putting a sign on the lawn.
While seller staging is a common practice, the two see buyer staging as equally essential. They advise clients through a complete Buyers Presentation, creating a package that’s contractually sound, yet appeals to what home sellers are looking for. Undoubtedly passionate for their profession, the pair laughs at how often real estate makes its way into their leisure time.
“At home we watch HGTV and Million Dollar listing…Our families are best friends, so I’ll be texting Elin at midnight, saying ‘Oh my goodness, did you see that house?’” Linda says.
They also mentor young real estate agents, keeping the pair on top of their game and paying it forward, while participating in regular toy, food and clothes drives throughout the year. Both mothers of two, Elin and Linda enjoy spending time with their families in an area that makes them feel like they’re always on vacation.
Elin’s husband and 41⁄2 yr- old son keep her heart jolting with their dirt bike riding and outdoor activities. She jokes the 3 year-old isn’t too far behind.
Linda has raised her children, and watched them grow up in the Blackhawk community. Her 23-year old daughter recently graduated from UC Davis, and her 20 yr-old son currently attends college in San Luis Obispo. Yet, after raising the two and building her business, she says her 30- year marriage is her greatest accomplishment.
After over a decade of partnership, Elin and Linda joke they have too much fun to even ponder retirement. And judging by their dynamic energy and genuine commitment to their clients, they’re in it for the long haul.
