Matt Skrabo’s Family History and Knowledge on Technology is Helping Him Be His Best

As a third-generation Realtor, Matt Skrabo’s passion for real estate runs deep in his blood. Born into one of the founding families of Portola Valley, he comes with vast knowledge of the mid-peninsula and a natural ability for navigating the local market.
While he grew up learning about escrows and open houses, Matt has established his own reputation as a trusted top producer. The community voted him the “#1 Best Realtor” via Bay Area News. He also sits on Keller William’s 2015 “Cappers Wall of Fame,” which recognizes agents for high sales volume.
Beyond the accolades, Matt is known for his honest approach, intricate neighborhood knowledge, and exceptional marketing strategies.
“I think a large part of my value, aside from knowing the market, is leveraging technology,” says Matt. “Right now in this market buyers are going online, especially international buyers or those from other parts of the country, so sellers need the Internet to get their listings out.”
His global reach is just one of the reasons he’s built a strong referral-based business. A proponent of in-person connections and like-minded partnerships, Matt takes pride in being honest with his clients from the start to ensure it’s a mutual fit.
“I’m a firm believer when you let something go another good thing comes. That’s always been true for my business. So, quality versus quantity and like-mindness is important for any sales job,” he says.
Having grown up in Portola Valley, Matt knows the proximity, lot sizes and appreciation value on a home-by-home basis. This first-person experience adds a whole different dimension to effectively representing his clients.
“A lot of the houses on the market I used to play in as a child…It’s really interesting to go back to your hometown and sell properties that you were familiar with 30 years ago,” says Matt.
Yet, his knowledge base extends well beyond Portola Valley. Matt also helps buyers and sellers in Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Atherton, as well as Mountain View and San Mateo. A current resident of Palo Alto, Matt enjoys working and living in a thriving community that’s so easy to call home.
“When you feel at home you feel comfortable and when you feel comfortable you’re successful and happy. This is my hometown and I love it. I’m very familiar with the area, which enables me to be successful in buying and selling my clients’ homes,” says Matt.
When he’s not guiding clients or checking out open houses, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Ella, and 18-month-old daughter, Olivia. A believer in work-life balance, Matt spends his free time at local parks with his family, playing tennis, shopping and exploring the local dining scene with his wife on date nights. He and his family also travel to Hawaii regularly.
