Maybe it’s his love for helping others, or the fact that he began working with people at an early age. Whatever the reason, Paddy Kehoe, ReMax’s #1 Lafayette Realtor for 2013, has garnered a tremendous reputation built off his honest advice, vast real estate experience and emphasis on establishing trust in every business relationship. “I’ve been in sales my whole life. I grew up in Ireland where our family owned a bar. I was serving customers at 10 years old and every customer was king,” says Paddy. “So, I learned from an early age how to speak to all types of people.”
Since then, Paddy’s expanded his client base, bringing more than 20 years of real estate experience to buyers, sellers and investors throughout Lafayette. Spending much of his adult life in property development, Paddy has dealt with a wide range of transactions including, condo complexes, hotels, retail and commercial investment properties.
Equally experienced in the residential sector, Paddy has bought and renovated numerous single and multi- family homes; and developed 100 energy efficient eco-homes throughout Ireland. His vast knowledge base comes with valuable insight proven to be incredibly helpful to Lafayette’s buyers and sellers. “There’s pretty much no scenario I haven’t seen when it comes to a house or transaction. If you need a real estate agent, you want one who’s experienced and will fight for you, but also know what their fighting for,” he says.
Genuinely invested in the success of others, Paddy is known for his consistent, straightforward business advice. By relaying the facts exactly as they are, his clients quickly see that he has their best interest in mind. “I’ll always tell [my clients] what I believe versus what I believe they want to hear. That’s always the case and I think that’s a pretty fresh approach that people really respond to,” he says. Sometimes that honest insight comes with unconventional options, where the client may not even need a Realtor, but rather experiential guidance helping them assess the situation in ways that best meets their end goal. “Because I’ve had a lot of different investment properties over the years, I understand there’s more than one way to solve a situation, which sometimes doesn’t make me any money, but continues to build trust with my clients,” he says.
Paddy’s breadth of experience is especially helpful to sellers. Upon walking in a home, he can easily scour a property, seeing both the limitations and upside potential, relaying how that affects its market value. Skilled in home renovations Paddy not only knows how to properly update listings, but does so in cost-effective fashion that’s always profit-focused. “When it comes to repairs and upgrades, my clients rely on me to decide where money is best spent,” Paddy says. “If we’re not going to make a profit on the money we’re spending I don’t want to spend it. Whether it’s my dollar or theirs, I don’t waste it.”
Beyond his multifaceted background lies an authentic interest in helping people increase their quality of life. By listening to his clients’ stories, Paddy deciphers their wants and needs, resulting in advice that naturally aligns with their short and long-term goals. “I genuinely enjoy helping people. And sometimes that means advising them not to buy or sell if there’s a better option on the table,” he says.
When he’s not counseling his clients, Paddy enjoys hiking and exploring the many gems of California’s great outdoors. He’s also the proud father of two children, an 18 year-old daughter attending college on the East Coast, and a 15-year-old son studying at Campolindo High School. Whether he’s spending time with his family, or staying active amidst the area’s many resources, Paddy enjoys being an integral part of the local real estate community. “Lafayette is a charming city…and to me has the perfect balance of anything you could want in a community.”
